Some teas are blended at Wissotzky — the world's most respected tea house, founded in 1849. Some are blended in-house by our herbalist, Bess Dallal. Both are labeled clearly because we believe transparency is part of the cup.
— Wissotzky · Since 1849
Wissotzky is the oldest, most respected tea house in the modern Middle East. Founded in 1849, headquartered today between Tel Aviv and Holon, with cuppers and blenders who have been at their tables for thirty years.
When we built our catalog, we made a choice that some competitors would have hidden: rather than attempting to blend every tea ourselves at launch, we partnered with Wissotzky for four teas — Earl Grey Supreme, Darjeeling First Flush, Uji Matcha, and Lapsang Souchong. These are teas where the blending tradition matters more than any in-house experiment, and where Wissotzky's facilities deliver something we couldn't yet match.
Each tea blended with Wissotzky is named as such on the product page, on the canister, and in your order confirmation. We believe the tea drinker who's paying attention deserves to know — and that the partnership is part of what makes the cup good, not something to hide.

— Our principles
Name everyone.
Teas blended with Wissotzky say so on the product page, on the canister, in your shipping confirmation. Besteas-original blends say so too. You always know who made the cup in your hand.
No silent partners.
Every pairing will name its producer at launch. Apiary, baker, ceramicist, kettle-maker — as we sign each one, their name shows up in your box and on this page.
Quality over attribution.
We turn to Wissotzky for some of our catalog because their blending heritage — since 1849 — belongs in your cup, not in our ego.
