We chose ginger and turmeric in cracked-root form (not powder) so the cup tastes alive instead of medicinal. A little black pepper is included — turmeric's curcumin needs piperine to be bioavailable, which sounds clinical but really just means: it works better with a pinch of pepper. Add a slice of fresh lemon and a teaspoon of honey if you want it sweeter.
